Really hoping for an answer from a developer as he/she would have the most insight into this question, but of course anyone is welcome.

I remember playing this game first when it came out on Brutal difficulty. I remember that on that playthrough at the end of level 5 or 7 there was a fight in an enclosed area. And immediately after that fight another one started (with the end game boss music).

Recently I've started another playthrough on Casual. I'm already at the start of level 8 and there was no such additional fight.

So my question is: Does the game difficulty removes/adds certain fights/enemies?

If so, which fights exactly are influenced?

Hey!

No, difficulty only changes how enemies behave and their numerical power, and affects some timing puzzles. Other than that, the game is completely identical. Maybe you simply missed the fight on the second playthrough? The game has quite a few optional rooms that you don't have to visit to progress, so I guess that's the case.

There is such fight near the end of 7th level. Perhaps the second wave of enemies was somehow triggered before you've eliminated the first group and you've just experienced the fight as a one. In my case it looked like that, there was only a while between these two battles.
