SpammingTanks: Apparently the game will only let me play on the lowest possible textures because the computer I am using happens to be a 32-bit system?
I just dropped $20 on this. The store page has NO information to this effect.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem? It would be greatly appreciated as I was excited to play this game. But I am about ready to contact support.
I'm also still rocking 32-bit Windows, and the number of games which are 64-bit only is steadily increasing. My PC says it supports a 64-bit OS but my copy of Windows was a pre-installed OEM version so I can't simply "change over" to 64-bit, I'd have to buy a new copy of Windows ... which isn't cheap.
I was debating whether to buy this game now on PC, or hold out for the PlayStation 4 version that's due next year. Based on your experience of the reduced-quality version 32-bit PC owners are treated to, I think I'll hold out!
What you might try is looking at the advice given in relation to the game Outlast, here on GOG. That game doesn't officially support 32-bit systems at all but says it *should* run if you tweak a setting on your PC which allows 32-bit systems to address more memory. The system requirements box for Outlast (on the GOG store page) points you to a Microsoft article explaining how to do this.
Maybe the game will allow you to access better-quality textures if you tweak this setting? It's worth a shot.
EDIT: Here's the relevant line from the Outlast store page:
Compatibility notice: 32 bit systems are not officially supported, but should work if configured to provide 3GB of user-mode address space. See
