B0SC0: When we did internal tests for the release, we were able to conduct LAN play using offline characters, so it should be functioning. Have you any additional info so that we can help out with this?
Gurlok: Sure thing. Long story short, I bought van helsing FC during summer sale, and almost a month later, I was able to get a free copy since I already owned it, so I decided to gift it to my friend. We tried to establish a lan game through evolve (vpn a la himachi) with no success. I'm using GOG galaxy, while he is not. I hope these info could be of some help. Anyway, thanks for looking at my post :) .
jdmatson: I've been playing offline lan mostly successfully. If you aren't seeing the hosted game at all, you might have an issue with your firewall. If that's the case, you'll need to make sure that the game is unblocked on all of the computers you're playing on.
If you're having issues in game, there's a trick in another thread involving using different .exe files depending on your system that made a world of difference for us.
This game is a blast in co-op. I hope you get your problems resolved.
Gurlok: Usually I'm hosting the game, while he just join. As I said right now (by replying to B0SC0) we used evolve to establish the lan game. I don't think the firewall is an issue here, as I can make lan games everytime with no issues at all. The only issues I found so far were with sacred 2 and van helsing FC only; with the first one we couldn't see each other much like van helsing FC, but the issue was evolve related, by using tunngle we fixed that (although I really don't like tunngle at all).

Really? Mmm...I simply launch the game from gog galaxy, I saw that there are many exes almost for every x86/64 bit and even for windows 10 (which I use), but since there is no launcher which let you choose, I thought that the game would recognize the right combination.
Hello.
I'm not very good with those things so someone else might have a better answer, but I think you solved it yourself :). You said he uses evolve vpn and you use galaxy but... (again, I'm not expert in this), as far as I understand, vpn like Hamachi create their own internal network, while galaxy is through gog servers (hope I'm not making a mistake here ^_^)
Anyway, to sum up, you were both connected, but you were on 2 different networks, of course you don't see each others o.Õ
Try using both evolve or both galaxy, that should solve it. I'm regularly playing VH FC with a friend these times with galaxy, no problem so far. We are using Hamachi for some other games, works too (didn't try with VH though)
Galaxy requires no configuration, while vpn do need some (it did with Hamachi, not sure what, he did it, not me), so, if you're not an experienced user, galaxy might be easier for you.
Also, be sure to have the same game version. This includes patch and mods. Any differences and you won't be able to join (though you should see each other)
If that's doesn't work... sorry, no idea. Hope it helped
EDIT: I would recommend using galaxy, simply to make the community a bit "alive" (someone was also complaining about this with grim dawn, no public games).
If everyone uses galaxy, it means more available games, so people can easily find a game and play co-op. Currently it's pretty much dead (no games). If you use a vpn, you're on your private network, so you don't appear in galaxy (meaning, if everyone uses a vpn, there are tons of private session, whereas, if everyone uses galaxy, there are lots of public game).
Of course, I not saying you must, you can also use galaxy and make a private session (password). Actually it's what I do (I know, doesn't help as "public game"), but we are irl friends, using skype, having a random player would probably make things really awkward for everyone, we move at our own pace etc...
But you get the idea :)
