Please help. I have reviewed the forum to try and find a solution to no avail. I have the most up to date drivers and have tried starting the program as an admin from the desktop shortcut. The resolution changes as if the game is trying to load, then almost instantly errors out. I'm not sure what to do and need help so that I don't wind up wasting the money on a game that won't run on my machine.

I'm running a Dell Latitude E5430 machine. Should have plenty of processing speed \ ram \ video capability to run an older game such as this...

I found the error message in the viewer and can post the actual error message if that helps...

I'll try and help ya out. Try deleting the masquerade.ini file in the main vampire directory, it holds your config and will repopulate back to defaults upon launch. That's where to start.

If that doesn't work, post the event log and also check the system even logs to see if any other errors popped up around the same time, like a driver crash ect.

I assume you are using "vanilla" Redemption with no mods installed?

Yes, vanilla redemption. I will try your suggestions. Thanks!

EDIT: I cannot locate the .ini file. It's like the installer didn't generate it. Even did a entire c drive search...

Is there any file in the main directory called "Masquerade"? It's likely the ini file, even if it's not labeled as such. If you click on it, it'll bring up all your Redemption settings. If not, you may need to reinstall, or download the installer again using the gog download manager.
If compatibility issues exists then a compatibility tab will appear on the windows explorer top bar when you navigate to the main VTMR directory. Could also see if the error is caused by the draconian bik player VTMR uses. Try going into the VTMR/Videos folder and rename logo.bik to _logo.bik... this actually keeps VTMR from loading up the game start bik videos... Just a suggestion for debugging your problem if that is were the problem is. Seems a lot of people are reporting bik player issues in VTMR these days.
Thanks for the suggestions. I updated Windows 7 again and it randomly started to work. No more issues!

This likely means your install wasn't successful, the file should be there. Perhaps try running the installer as admin or re-downloading the installer then report back. If the ini file wasn't there, which it should be by default, the game should create one upon startup.

I re-aquired the downloader and re-installed as admin. (game won't even won't run with compatibility mode)
NO INI FILE!!! and game STILL insta-crashes.

Maybe the INI file dosen't get written until a successful launch of the game (Which WON'T happen for me) :'(

Looks like I wasted more cash on another unstartable game. AAAAAAARGH!!!!!

If you're willing to try one more thing, delete all the .bik files in the video folder within the Redemption directory and see if it launches.
At least GOG has a 30 day money back guarantee. So if you still haven't solved the issue by then, you have the option for a refund from what I understand of GOG policy.

I got a reply from GOG support and they have offered me refund or another game of same value. I replied I wish for another game and am waiting for next reply. :D
First, before anything else, try to run the setup.exe as ADMINISTRATOR. It is also obvious, that you should try running the game's exe or shortcut to desktop of it, also as ADMINISTRATOR. I have windows 7 too, and works flawlessly for me. Hell, this way, i even got the original legit copy of the game, to work here (1.00). If it fails, try that again, after changing compatibility to either XP, or win 98.

Good luck. This game is a great one, would be a shame not being able to enjoy it in modern nights...
