Not a rumor, completely confirmed and they even premiered a trailer for it at their annual World of Darkness convention a few months back. The MMO is being developed by CCP, the creators behind Eve Online, who merged with White Wolf a few years ago. No official word on a release date yet.

Having to connect to the internet to log on to Steam so you can play your BOUGHT copy of a SINGLE player game is such crap, It's really lame of Steam in all aspects.

You don 't have to run your steam client to play the game. You can run the game from the folder it is installed in.

That's not true of all Steam games. It is true of games that are actually run in DOSBox, but for the vast majority of game on Steam, the Steam client itself is the DRM on the game and it must be running to launch the game. Even if it is not running at the time you launch the game, it will start before the game does.

I had the good luck of finding the game with a magazine, patching it to fanmade 3.2, and finishing it once; and I would be really happy to see it on GOG.
However, I'm not very much optimistic about this. Reason is, the game is built on the Source engine, and I suspect this would require some hard-to-get license from Valve. But maybe I'm too paranoid?

Has anyone purchased it from Direct2Drive? I ask because I have no idea as to the DRM on the game and they do not do customer service for non-members. Although I would prefer to buy the Troika/Acitivision product from GOG, I honestly don't see it being released here on GOG, even though D2D is selling it for $4.99 or so last time I checked so it would fit the prices. I would pay $9.99 or even $19.99 for it if it was released by GOG so that I didn't have to worry about DRM infecting and crashing my computer. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I've got Bloodlines from Direct2Drive and there is NO DRM at all. All the mods that I've tried out have worked fine. The resolution patcher worked. It does have the initial serial nunber check but that's it. Hope that helps.

Well DotEmu has it for 20 bucks DRM-free. I think I'll get it. Guess that GOG doesn't have it yet because Activision probably won't budge on the price and thus would have to break the 10 dollar ceiling. Probably will be brought here in a year or so, its an old game with bugs it needs to be 10 bucks.

About getting Bloodlines on GOG...

GOG would probably have to talk to a bunch of people and corporations and get their approval:

Activision - original game's V:TM-BL publisher
Valve - The Bloodlines game is on their Source Engine
White Wolf - Owners of VTM license
CCP - Current users of the VTM license for games [they are currently making the World of Darkness MMO]
