After heared so many praise about this Game, and also this Phrase: "Everytime you mention it, someone will re-install it", i thought i give it a try. Good grief, this Game is sick. I mean the hounted house was one of the most scariest things which i have seen the last years besides Layers of Fear and Until Dawn. The overall Gameplay is okay, however the dialouges and story is pretty good.

I'm not someone who call "one" Game as simply the best which is above every other Game, and i will not do this with Vampire, but heck - i understand now why people love this Game so much. I mean you can hardly make Vampire-Setting interesting for me, because i actually hate Vampires. I'm more the Van-Helsing-Vampire-Hunting or Castlevania type; but i really enjoy to play this Game. I stopped my playthrough for now, because i want to let's play it this year for friends of mine - ( i finished the hounted house) - but the beginning was already amazing experience =)
Replaying it now that I'm older, the game is certainly more annoying than I remember. Lots of faux-edgy, dark, mean spirited stuff. The game reads like a wikia entry on the (old) World of Darkness. In hindsight, so does the ultimately nihilistic story. It's like bad fan fiction.

There is some really gratuitous faux-edge in this game. In particular, the snuff porn studio and the russian mobster pressing a woman bar owner for sexual favors comes to mind. It seemed mature to my younger self but now it is so tacky and pretend adult. It really does not help that the game has several sexy vampires with hammy seductress voices.

Gruesome and sexualised violence is hinted at through the game. Hilariously poorly rendered as the game was rushed out the door way too early. We can count our blessings that the game lacks the visual fidelity to live up to the crass fantasy it sets out to portray!

(All this said, I'm still a fan, it is a classic game worth more than the sum of it's parts. A rather unique action-roleplaying experience)

Ahh, the Ocean House Hotel - one of the best levels in the history of gaming.

Just remember, you only get to play Bloodlines for the first time once. Don't spoil it for yourself.

Yeah...
:)
Oh yes, the haunted hotel. I have played the game so many times and this is still one of the most scary missions I have ever encountered in a computer game. I know that the orphanage mission in Thief: Deadly Shadows is supposed to be one of the most scary mission designs ever, but I never found this especially frightening. This hotel, though...

I remember firing shots in panic at every noise...
