The first problem is the 'sun coming up' movie won't play as I'm entering the clock. My screen goes blank and I can hear the clock ticking...in order to get the screen back have to hit escape and then resume.

Once I resume...there's a huge gear in the way of moving forward any more. I've tried to restart from the beginning of Vienna but it's always the same....the big gear is in my way and I can't go anywhere.

Is there a lever or something I'm missing to move it out of the way? I don't remember from playing the original (off the cd on Windows XP) if there was anything other than finding your way to the clock face??!!??

I've had his problem quite a few times but not everytime. When it happens, I was unable to fix it. I ended up using the mist scroll that is found there.

Thanks!! I'll try it (if I can find the scroll LOL) and see what happens!

EDIT: Nope. I added all disciplines because there wasn't a scroll anywhere and Herme didn't have one either. After several attempts it still won't work. The gear is still there and there's no getting around it. :::sigh::: I may have to give up and start over and hope it doesn't happen at this point again. Unless someone can think of another fix?!?

I stopped outside the clock thinking it was a good stopping point...maybe next time I'll keep playing. Seems all goes well until I try to save and play another day.

Second Edit:
Found my own fix. I used the JUMP command to jump to Stephansdom 2 and bypassed the whole level. I'm going to try to go back and go through it backwards so I'll be on the other side of the gear. I'm sure it will be gone when I get there!

I don't like using the cheats but I'm very glad the option was there to do so this time LOL!

You could also try the pass through cheat. Its been a long time since I played so I don't remember how I made the mist scroll work. It should be next to the wall at the bottom of the stairs after passing the clock (I'm assuming it breaks after passing thru the first time) , far wall.
If you don't have the mist scroll why not just use a console command to whip yourself up one. It'll be something like addthing discscroll_mist or something - check LAN mode to find out exactly what the item name is.
Failing that shapeshift yourself into a hopper and jump under? 'shapeshift hopper'
don't forget to use 'shapeshift' again afterwards.

None of that worked. I tried being in mist form...I tried being a ghost...I tried projecting my spirit...nothing worked...everybody was stuck behind the gear. The jump to level 2 worked great...and when I went backwards to get to that part on the other side of the gear...it was still there. Crazy!

Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions!
