I've downloaded and installed the game using gogdownloader.

The game installed just fine, but after I launch either of the shortcuts (VTM, VTM(Legacy), the game starts, shows the few videos (white wolf, nvidia sometimes shows the troika video and freezes with a black screen afterwards, sometimes freezes on troika show).

Waitting patiently doesn't wotk.
Trying to skip tru the videos doesn't work.
Restarting comp after instal doesn't work.

OS is Windows XP.

What are your system specs? Are you using on board graphics or something similar?

Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family

I guess the graphics should be the problem, I've just never had trouble playing oldgames on this machine regardless.

Use the 3D-Analyze app to optimize the game for Intel chipsets...

I'll try to do this myself, but I might need help. I'm too old for most of the modern software shenanigans ...

Guess I'm to old and dumb for that stuff. I tried selecting and running the "vampire.exe" while setting the numbers for the ids of the graphic device, but it just errors "failed to inject dll into target process".

I can't help you there as I never used that program. You might ask someone on Planet Vampire about this!
