Depends on what item it is. Normal ones in white letters usually don't transfer, unless they are a weapon and of Exquisite quality. Armor itself doesn't transfer, alas. Magic gear in blue letters, like a full helm of the insulated variety, insulated gauntlets, transfer. Tailored Armor is the Plate Mail equivalent in modern era. Protects less from melee but a lot from bashing type damage. There isn't magic Tailored Armor, though, unlike Platemail (you could find holy/unholy). Relics like Ivory Bow and Sire Index Finger, transfer.
