I set up a wine wrapper, loaded it into the executable, and created the application. However, each time I try to open it, my screen just freezes for a minute and then nothing happens. has this happened to anyone else using wine to run this game?

The Unofficial Patch includes a launcher script for Wine in the main folder. You might take a look at that...

The patch is an exe and I can't look at it's contents.

I meant the GOG version. You can install the real patch into an empty folder to get to the script...
