I installed the game fine and it ran fine the first time. The second time I tried to run it I got a popup on the main menu saying to put in my cd key. So am I missing something here or is there a cd key file somewhere?

I was under the impression cd keys weren't needed for gog games, i've never been asked for one from any game here.

I get this same problem: Requests a CD Key on launch.

Running Windows 7 x64

Also, the installer does not "Complete" and freezes at the end. I'm thinking The CD Key issue may be related to this. Even re-downloaded the installer. Same problem.

I have no idea if this will work or even how to do it but on other old games run on Win7/64, one has to load the game as administrator. I stumbled onto the box that allows this in the past but don't remember what I did.

Good idea, but didn't work for me. If anyone else wants to try, right-click on "Vampire.exe" in the "Vampire the Masquerade - Redemption" directory, choose "Properties", and select the "Compatibility" tab. "Privilege Level" is near the bottom, with a "Run this program as an administrator" checkbox. Again, didn't work for me.

I also tried some compatibility mode settings from that page (Win XP SP3, and Win 98/ME) but to no avail.

Anyone else got any ideas?

This may be an issue for GOG support. Their policy is no cd key as I recall.
I'd say uninstall, delete the registry entries then re install.
Hello,
Anybody got the solution here?
Have the same problem . . .

You might have to contact gog support directly. I don't think there's an answer here on the forums.
thanks M8 - I will do this :)
This happened to me once when I used Window's System Restore to get them to a date before I installed the game.

The game started up fine but once inside it asked me for a CD Key.

After I reversed the system restore point, the game was again working properly so I can be fairly certain it is a (missing) key in the registry that is causing this.

My advice would be to re-install the game using the same user account as the one that you intend to play the game from and when you do, to run the game installer with Administrative privileges (right click on the setup file and click "Run as administrator").
hi, iv the original games, but i lost cd key :-((((((((can you help me?
Same problem here.
But it worked for me setting Compatibility mode to "Windows XP Service Pack 2" on the Vampire.exe file, and also by launching the game directly from the Vampire.exe file.
