Procne: I'm having trouble finding answers for those questions, so I'm asking here:
- How many different types of buildings can player build?
- How many different occupations / jobs are available to my vikings?
- How many different resources / items exist in the game?
- What is the longest production chain?
- How many maps / islands are available in the campaign?
1. 34 types of buildings.
2. cca. 22 occupations.
3. 37 items/ressources.
4. 4 buildings I think, farm > mill > bakery > kitchen
5. There are only random generated maps in the game since the goal off the game is for you too build up your economy and make your Vikings strong enough to defeat all the dangers when they climp up the Valhalla Hills. In order to Ascend to Valhalla they need to gain enough Honor which they gain by doing things and especially when fighting (they are Vikings afterall). So for one of your Vikings to ascend to Valhalla you will need quit a lot maps played :) Im on map 10 and still far away. But since Dome Dwarves appeared I will probably gain a lot of honor fighting on this map.
Also as soulsorce mentioned already, you have to feed all your Vikings which can present quite some challenge since the game has real time (althoug speeded up) night/day cylcle so your Vikings sleep, work and eat and also occasionally talk between themselves. Also every feed satisfies their food needs differently. The food from Kitchen (aka sandwiches) keeps them fedd for longest time.
You can play the game with progression which means you unlock new buildings and options by playing mapps and defeating Portal guardians and other enemeies (Ice Guards, Wolf, Bears, Skeletons, etc.). Or if you wan't to you can play an open game with all the buildings, map sizes, enemies and ressources unlocked. So you can play some really momentous maps that will take several hours to beat.
The game is very enjoyable and closest anybody has come to old Settlers and Cultures games.
Adding picture of Viking card open with amount of Honor gained and current map im playing.
