I picked this game up after reading some reviews, watching a gameplay video or two, and all of that good stuff. Seemed like it would be a fun game. But thus far, it's been basically no fun, and all aggravation.
Whenever I run this game, the CPU usage will randomly skyrocket for unknown reasons. It's happened every single time, and I can't figure out why. The CPU usage jumps to 95%-100%, and the game slows to an absolute crawl at about 2-3 frames per second. It's happened at the opening when your character drops in, when you talk to the first enemy, when you go into a new room, when an enemy dies, when you're just walking along with nothing going on... it's maddening. There seems to be no rhyme or reason why this happens in seemingly random spots. Anyone have any ideas as to what's going on?
Here are my specs. I know they're very out of date, but they still exceed the required minimum specs by a good margin...
Desktop PC
Windows XP SP3
Pentium 4 3.00 GHz
Nvidia 7800 GS 256MB (AGP)
2GB PC 3200 RAM
I've tried redownloading the game, reinstalling it, turning off processes, rebooting my PC, shutting off my PC and turning it back on, running the .exe file instead of the shortcut, windowed mode, fullscreen mode, turning down any and all settings that the game allows... nothing seems to get around this issue. As such, any help would be appreciated.
