Sorry if this has already been sorted out, I have downloaded and installed the game, no issues, everything is totally fine, one problem though: as I remember back in the day, the game had some really nice 3D graphics, and now the graphics seem like downgraded. I believe today's cards know now everything for that kind of thing, how could I sort this out by somehow upgrading the graphics? Please help, thanks :)

Indeed the original installer offered the option to not use 3DFX, and when doing this there were some expanded graphics like laser glow and extra skyboxes, at the cost of no texture interpolation.

You will need an original copy. I contacted GOG support about this and they do not provide original copies of old games to make things like this possible, but it can be found for download on a few abandonware websites.
