Hi all

Does anyone know why uplink actively tries to connect to the net once launched?

I don't recall my other gog games trying to do this.

I am sure it is harmless enough, but I would love to hear why it tries all the same.

Could you provide a few more details than that, such as what it's trying to connect to? The only thing that comes to mind is that it has some client-server functionality to allow other computers running the game to be used as extra monitors (and an IRC client, but that shouldn't be running unless you actually bought that piece of software in-game).

Thanks for your response.

I have just switched firewalls (long story) and as soon as as the new one flags the connection I will post up the ip.
It does this because Uplink has a built in IRC channel that everyone connects to allow you chat with other players while playing. It attempts to connect when the game launches. I'm not even sure if the IRC channel exists anymore, but this is the reason.

Yes, mi bet is there too, however, if you has your firewall log messages you can confirm this by the destination port
