I'm getting flicker on the text but not on the graphics. I thought it was just an effect at first but no way would let this eye straining feature continue.

I have an older HP Pavillion laptop running XP and an AMD 64 and 128b graphics card.

I know it's a different issue but maybe trying the flickering graphics solution described here would help?
