Ok, I'm just flat stumped. Been trying to frame a few people, but whether or not anyone gets arrested despite me doing the crime and altering the logs is pretty much a coin toss. Can anyone provide some insight on why this is the case?

Do a maximum of 5 - 7 bounces to your target. If you make too long a bounce the computer doesn't seem to be able to follow the trail.
It takes time for the trace to happen and the person to get arrested. Keep checking the news. Number of bounces don't seem to matter.
