When trying to launch the most recent update, v1.1 I get a Windows message 'You'll need a new app to open this steam link - Look for an app in the Microsoft Store" and the game auto-closes. I don't have Steam installed, and even then it should not be required. Please fix, thank you!

Okay, new build uploaded to GOG. Should (I hope!) fix everything. Really sorry for the hassle here, truly embarrassed. As soon as I hear from the GOG guys that things are uploaded I'll reply back here.
