UTGOTY was designed to be accessible fun. And it truly is. Epic managed to hit the right formula with it.
On the graphics side, it's incredibly scalable. Damn near ANY PC can pull it. A low-end graphics card (think GeForce 2000 series) will make it look decent. A moderately powered graphics card will make it look beautiful. My laptop has an ATI Radeon HD 4200 and pulls UTGOTY on max settings. No bs-ing...
On the gameplay front, versatility is this games MO. The map variety is stellar, without being overwhelming. The game modes have equal variety. Death Match, Team DM, Capture The Flag, Domination, Assault... all the essentials are here and in fine form. Furthermore, mission objectives are simplified. No running around -like a chicken with your head cut off- trying to find key "X" for door "Y".
For those of you aching for a good FPS with lots of variety and low system requirements, Unreal Tournament GOTY is your best bet. Unlike UT2004 and (even worse) UT3, even a crappy rig can pull it and you're not bombarded with confusing choices. And even if you've got a killer rig, it's still worth owning. Enjoy!
