I was thinking about buying this off GoG as I have the CD version and that is a real pain with about 10 CDs but I was curious as to how the installer works. I heard it is slightly different and it has a .bin file or another related file? Can anyone shed some light on this?

it's got an installer .exe, a .bin (which is a cd image) and a 2nd .bin that I have no clue what it does, but is necessary.
but you basically just start the installer and it reads the files locally, no pointing around, nothing like that. it's very easy and simple.

I wasn't really worried about how complex it was, just mainly curiosity ;D. But thanks for replying!

I also have the disk version, but the good with, with the version from GoG you don't need a disk or a serial key. It's really great fun.
The installer comes with 3 files for me, but itÄs not any other to install like any of the other games.
