It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Hi,
I installed the game yesterday. When I tried to run it, I got the start menu (choosing between Direct3D or Software Rendering), and then clicked next. Then I got a black screen and could not do anything and I had to hard reset my laptop.
I looked through the forums and saw a similar post and I followed its recommendations: updated my video driver, sound driver was the latest and then also set DirectSound to false. Now when I double click on the icon nothing happens. If I double click again it says that there is another instance running. However I never get anything ... I guess it is better than restarting the laptop but still cannot play the game.
I am on Windows XP, ATI Mobility FireGL V5250 video card.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Well, that was helpful.
To the OP: did you try reinstalling DirectX? That sometimes works wonders.
I agree with JoshoB. I would also try using the DirectX Control Panel to further tweak the DX file. Also make sure you are using the latest DirectX 9.0C version. You can get both the control panel & DX 9.0c at majorgeeks.com. Oh! Don't forget to update your Graphics, the MOBO's Chip Set, & Audio Drivers. And create a new restore point before you make any updates or changes. If you still have trouble contact the GOG Support Team. Good Luck!
