Okay, i have the original install CD of Unreal Gold, i dont know if that will hinder me getting a responce here or not, but its worth a shot.

I recently re-installed Unreal gold on my brand new (kinda) PC. The problem is when i play, the game speeds up randomly (or when there isnt much to render). during these speed up moments, i have to look into a large open area, or fire my weapon a few times and hope the game slows down enough for me to continue. Can any one help?

Sounds like your using the old DirectX3D renderer and having crazy framerates making it unplayable.

I suggest you just install the latest patch from oldunreal.com 227h which comes with newer renderers as well as lots and lots of fixes and stuff. no point sticking to the old 224.
