hi,

i don't know why it's happening, but i'm experiencing terrible mouse lag in this game.
(installing the unofficial OldUnreal 227i patch fixed it, but i'd rather not need an unofficial patch.)

has anyone experienced the same?
any idea if there's a proper fix?

i have vsync turned off.
i've tried the direct3d 10 renderer from kentie.net, but that did not get rid of the mouse lag.

For me with the direct3d 10 render I actually needed to switch vsync on rather than off, to fix sound samples not being completed with Deus Ex (another unreal engine game) and it also seemed to help fix mouse lag as a side effect :-)

If you have a really high dpi gaming mouse you may also want to try reducing the dpi setting as that also helps with some older games.

Finally if those two options don't help you can try disabling vsync again in the dx10 redering settings and your graphics drivers 3d settings and then try changing the FPS limit. Disabling it completely is probably not recommended as I am told it can have strange side effects.

It's old post, but I have searched for the fix myself and it was very hard to find a good solution.

First step, you need to use markc mouse acceleration fix,
2'nd step, in the taskbar manager, you need set processor affinity for this particular process (you need to find "Unreal" process), and enable just one CPU core for this aplication. For some reason unreal 1 doesnt work correctly on multicore CPUs

BTW- new renderers in 227 patch features soft shadows, but it's better to turn them off. I have i7 with 1080ti, and with soft shadows performance is much worse, 300-1000 fps without soft shadows, 32 fps- 200 fps with soft shadows.
