So... I've been struggling to get U2 to work for years.
It didn't work for me in Win7 x64 (not even with the directmusic fix)
It didn't work for me in Win8.1 x64 (not even with the directmusic fix)
BUT I just moved to Win10 x64 and it only works if I launch it from the "PLAY NOW" button at the end of the installation process (Not Galaxy, standalone downloader). Problem is that it requires to install the game every single time I launch the game.
The Desktop shortcut and the "Play Unreal 2" shortcut in the game folder won't work and will give the same error I've been getting all these years. If GoG Galaxy is present... it won't work either.
It is a shitty solution, but works. And if someone could point out what else "extra" is doing the "PLAY NOW" button, it would be much appretiated.
EDIT: It needed to run with administrator privileges. So it will work in Win10 like that. I ran Win7 and Win8.1 with admin privileges always on, so that doesn't apply to those OS.
