That's because most UT fans run Linux servers, and Epic gave the development of the Linux server to a single guy, who's apparently only allowed to work on it in his lunchbreak.

Don't worry, there are still tons of players for both UT and UT2k4, and it's not going to change.
I still find the original UT the most enjoying online deathmatch game of all, except -maybe- a really good round of Quake III. And, it would appear, as does a lot of other people. From my experience the past months there are more people playing the original UT online than the original Quake Deathmatch.

And they would only let him do it after he made CliffyB coffee grown in Columbia or something. Geez.
