Hello everybody,

It seems like there was some confusion by some people if the last 227 patch might work and where to get it.
IP just thought I might summarize it up real simply.

First, here are the specs of my rig as it is right now:
i7-930
more then enoguh RAM
GTX 690
OS: W7-64bit
all drives up-to-date
It runs smooth as silk on my system as expected and looks clearly better with the higher res textures.

Download the patch from: http://www.oldunreal.com/oldunrealpatches.html
The patch has a history with versions ranging from A to I
For Unreal Gold you want the very last I-version which is 94MB.
The patch is packed as 7z, zip and rar. Pick a mirror with your preferred packing format.
It contains a single exe file - UnrealGoldPatch227i.exe

Here's the simple procedure:
1. Install the game and remember the install path.
2. Copy the patch file UnrealGoldPatch227i.exe into the main UnrealGold folder and run it.
3. It will add one new folder called Meshes.
4. Start the game and adjust under OPTIONS->PREFERENCES first the resolution to 1920x1080
5. Then choose i the smae menu FONT SIZE double. IF you choose font size firs you will not be able to choose the highest resolutions in the resolution menu in the pulldown menu.
6. You can delete the UnrealGoldPatch227i.exe file now out of the main directory. I suggest to backup that baby well for future installations until GOG or someone else will offer a patch directory.

Enjoy, the game
What is the oldweapons part for, do I want to use the version 200 weapons or not? What's the difference?

The only difference I'm aware of is the sound effects for the weapons:

Personally, I prefer the default sounds. The old ones are too muffled for my tastes.
