As You probably know, GOG.com set up two UT2004 servers for us:

There are not enough Players and this is a threat to these servers. They can be shut down really soon if we won't do something about it. Few members of our Community (thank You michaelleung and Weclock) created for us Good Old Gamers - the unofficial Xfire community:

Just submitted to join the xfire group. When are we playing 04 next? If it's on a weekend, I know one other guy who can play with us.
My only problem is I get around 110 ping to the server, but it shouldn't be horrible on DM.
We going to do anything more fun (TDM, CTF)?

Why not, if only Players will vote that way after each match we can even play Assault and Onslaught. ;)
Last weekend was the first one with events like this. I don't know who exactly can add new ones to the list here:

but if You want to have such "meetings" in the middle of the week then please write about it in this topic. You can check average number of people on the server on site with statistics (link in the first post). Unfortunately most of the time servers are empty. I sometimes join them and wait a little for some "random" Player but better solution is to use Xfire to talk to Good Old Gamers and play with us by appointment.
This is the best solution - waiting for a weekend can still not be enough to rescue the servers.

I'm up for ut2004 US next Wed (2009/09/30) after 21:00 CST, and I get probably get one other person there. I can't add events to the xfire group, so if anyone's interested, please add it.

it appears as if it has run it's course and the servers are down, if we can get at least a handful of people ready to go every weekend I will consider putting up a server myself, and will graciously accept donations.
but I want to talk to people about it first.

The EU server is still up as I've just been on it. And we got 6 players online at once a moment ago before I had to leave. So it's not gone yet.

I've been looking into setting up some kind of GoG Olympics, what do you guys think about the logistics of setting up a UT2004 competition or league?

i would like to play with the xfire group but they still haven't accepted my invitation yet :/

I sure hope they are! I played this game all the time when it came out. Love the whole Unreal series. Going to have LAN parties at my house for this.
