I first played Unreal Tournament in seventh grade, and immediately fell in love with it. I spent a lot of my free time out of school playing this game for almost three years, and I still boot it up every once in a while for nostalgia's sake (thanks to GOG!).
While the graphics are now nothing to be amazed by, the engine still amazes me.sometimes. You can play your own single player campaign, and while the story isn't as extensive as an RPG, the detail is still awesome: you can choose what team you want to be on, read character bios and pay attention to the story line, or plow through the ranks and maps to earn yourself some pretty great titles.
Multiplayer has still never gotten old for me, between the different in-game mods you can choose from, to user created maps and skins, there's always something to do. Now with additional maps and some pretty crazy GOTY weapons, there's more fun for all. Nothing says deathmatch like having a smiling mushroom pop out at you before you die! This game is worth every cent, and still my favorite Unreal Game to date (3 is a close second, of course). It's fun on your own, it's an amazing icebreaker for big LAN parties, or just to play with friends. Take a break when you get bored, then come back and discover new secret hiding places and areas you never bothered to notice before. Enjoy!
