The game let me chose between three resolutions, all in 16:9 aspect ratio:
800x450
1024x576
1280x720

Which should work with my 16:9 screen. And it looks okay when the game is windowed. But when I put the game in fullscreen, the image gets distorted (squezed down vertically) and has large black boxes at top and bottom.

- Anyone else gets this?

Never mind - I think it is my hardware that didn't work right

I have this same problem and can't find a solution anywhere.

Those black bars on the top and bottom are so annoying!!! grrr.
