When i launch the game, it's freeze on language screen, then return to destkop. Anyone have same issue ?

Didn't see this myself, the language select did come up but I was able to successfully choose a language with the mouse and then it loaded into the game menu.

Have you tried running it with elevated permissions like 'run as administrator'? to see if it's a security restriction on your system preventing the write of the config file?

Had the very same issue: loading bar> language setting screen> after I chose one (german in this case) the game froze, 5 seconds later I ended up back on desktop with some cryptic error like "wrong cursor" or something.
That was the game's first start and was executed via "launch game" option directly after installation.
I then went into start menu and ran the game from the GOG folder.
Problem solved.

i know this is a few years old now, but i had a similar issue and managed to identify the cause, and find a simple workaround.

the game was crashing as soon as loading bar finished, sometimes it would bring up the language selection, and once or twice i even got into the game, but it always crashed again the next 20 times i'd try it. i finally thought to check the event viewer in windows, and found that there were events for every time unepic crashed, with event id 1000, which is "This behavior can occur if the address for the configured preferred DNS server on the client is invalid or unreachable." so as soon as i saw that i knew my VPN was the cause, i disabled it and ran the game successfully, quit, ran successfully again, and repeated 4 or 5 more times to be sure: no more crashing.

SO: if you're using a vpn, try disconnecting and running the game. if you have static dns servers or are using any kind of internet proxy settings, these could also be the cause. hope this helps anyone else that comes here looking for answers.

just got the Game today. After installing it, i ran into the same problem. The game hangs on loading screen. When i click some buttons on the controller, i can hear a responce from the game but the loading screen still doesnt do a thing. When i ALT TAB out and back into the game, the screen advances but is still frozen. I dont have any servers, VPN´ s ect. running. Admin mode plus compatibility various settings wont do the trick eighter.

Any ideas?
