If I download the full game right now I don´t need any of the patches, right? The version numbers shown in the library are different than when you download them, very confusing.

That's right, you don't need the patches as GOG updates the installers too when patches are available.

when i launch the game it tells me 'Version 1.0.1.10' on the title screen, but when i go to add any of the seemingly later numbered patches it tells me my version is newer? Those patch numbers are: 2.7.0.10 and 2.8.0.11 and 2.8.0.12

Should i not be seeing that last one as the version number on the title screen? If not on the title screen is there any way in the files to tell what actual version i am running, thinking of future patches to avoid confusion.

GOG uses a diferent numbering for patches

Not the first time GOG admins doing that. I think that is intentional - to promote Galaxy.

My old saves work fine with the newly installed install, just in case anyone was wary.

There aren't any, it seems. At this point, you have to download the game again, not sure if there will be a seperate patch file for those who don't/can't do that again.
