When I play Ultima Underworld there is a good chance that the music will stop playing after I defeat an enemy. I still get sound effects, but music no longer plays and it is turned off in the in-game settings and cannot be turned back on. When I restart the game it works fine again until it fails again.

Is there any fix or patch for that? I have set my music to Roland MT32 because it sounds better than Sound Blaster and I'm playing on a Mac in Boxer. Other games using Roland music work fine, it's only this one.

Hello HiPhish,

Thank you for reporting the issue, we will look into it. Did you alter the initial Boxer configuration? If yes, could you check if the music works OK when using Sound Blaster setting?

I changed the sound settings using the UINSTALL.EXE program of the game. But it happens with Sound Blaster and Sound Blaster Pro as well.

Just to clarify my previous post, if I don't touch the sound settings the music plays just fine. I just wanted to changed it to Roland for better music quality.

That explains it. I am afraid we are not able to support all available settings - we tested the game for the most compatible configuration, to make sure it runs correctly on the widest range of systems possible. I hope it's understandable.

Fair enough. To be honest, I wasn't even expecting an official GOG response, I was hoping the community would know what's going on. Your response to this thread came rather unexpected.
