Hi!

I started playing Underworld 2 a few days ago and it worked great. But now, coming back to it and loading saved games, there's a constant issue where my character will constantly inch backwards if the geometry allows, even with nothing pressed on the mouse or keyboard. As a result of these constant rear inputs (coming from I know not where), my forward movement is very halting and jittery. If anyone has suggestions or knows of a fix for this issue, I'd be very appreciative. Thanks!

My guess would be that you've got erroneous joystick input.

The UW2 quick-reference card says that pulling the joystick back will cause move the player to move back.

Inaccurate joystick calibration could result in such erroneous input.

Try pressing Ctrl+J to calibrate/center the joystick.

And/or try to find out what source of input DOSBox is presenting to the game as a joystick.

You might also try changing the line
joysticktype=auto
to
joysticktype=none
in dosboxULTIMA2.conf

Thanks. I had plugged in an Xbox gamepad between my first UU2 session and my second, and even though nothing was touching it, somehow for this particular game it was registering as a backwards input. I disconnected it and restarted the game, now it works fine. Thanks for the response!
