I have successfully played through Pagan on other versions than this one several times, so I know whot to do in what order.

I have talked to Vividos, got the dagger (although I recall that in my versions, the chest in Mordeas room was hidden, here it was not) and returned to the graveyard.

Dagger is in inventory, Lothian is Lying lazily on the altar awaiting the blades kiss, just Vividos os nowhere to be found.

After some searching, I found him roaming the upper level of the tomb, and spoke to him. This, too, had happened before in an older version of the game, so I dod not worry.

However, I did not have the dialogue option to turn the quest in - I could only deny possession of the dagger.

I tried saving, reloading, restarting the doxBox, restarting the entire machine, changing the time when I steal that damn thing, sleeping several times, talking to Vividos several times, with and without the dagger, Dagger in Backpack, in bag in backpack, in jewellery box in a bag in my backpack, nothing seems to help.

And this IS a gamebreaker, since I do not want to cheat my way around this. (Yes, I know I could and it would be easy, but I do not want this).

So.. any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot =)

Just as an extra bit of info:

I reinstalled, and the first quest, the dagger, worked greatly.

However, now that I stand before the necromancer again, and want to give him the reagents which are safely tucked inside my backpack..

well.. I can only ask him what he needs.

And I remember clearly that there is a check when you try to cheat your way through that will send you back to the west of tenebrae to pick up another dead mans elbow - in fact, he even has dialogue for that, claiming that it needs to be fresh.

So... different quest, same problem. Any ideas? Anyone?
Yay, solved myself. So, if anyone else has this problem, try this:

empty your bags. It seems that the game cannot handle a full backpack. This has nothing to do with the weight, merely the number of items.

Now I distinctly remember having even more in my backpack when I first had that game, and that problem did not occur, but it seems now it does. So, just take things out of your bag, put the quest items back in, turn in quest, and then pick up the rest of your stuff.

(if anyone could post "the post above this one is the solution" so we can mark and get on with our lives would be fine :D)

I always use Pentagram (http://pentagram.sourceforge.net/) when I feel like playing Ultima 8.
Played through the game a few weeks ago, still works like a charm. :)
