Hi,
where can i find a proper manual for Ultima VII?
There are 3 .pdf files available for download under extras. but none of them are what i would actually call a manual.
Where is it explained how to play the game? How can i talk to people, interact with objects, where is the map (IS there a map?), what do all the icons in the interface mean, how to load and save a game, is there a crime system, etc. I know some things are self-explanatory, but is there really nothing? Notthing at all??
The pdfs are just background story as far as i can see. Nice. But no manual??
I'm not a newby, i have been playing computer games since the 80s, but back then, extensive manuals were a common thing. As i would expect for an old game like Ultima VII.

Ultima didn’t really do mauals as you imagine them. The main books were basically written as in universe books, world maps were separate and the sort of thing you want tended to be separate reference cards. That said, I’m not sure if they did that for seven, since so much of it was intuitive. For example you talk to people by double clicking on them. You save by pressing the floppy icon on the Avatars character screen (opened by either double clicking or pressing I key).

You only see 3 files? I see 6 files:
- Manuals
- Play guides
- Reference cards
- Maps
- Cluebooks
- Design documents

You'll want the "Quick Reference Card" and the "Maps" to guide you through the game. The "Manual" will be needed in a couple of parts of the game during a copyright pirate check.
I was refering to the 3 manual files, not all available files in the extras section.

Aaaah, reference cards! So they came up with a new name for "manuals" ;) That looks like exactly what i was looking for.
Thank you very much.
