Hi guys,

New GOG member here, just purchased Ultima VII: The Complete Collection last night and attempted to play it today. However, while Serpent Isle launches correctly, The Black Gate opens DOS Box, flickers to full-screen blackness and promptly crashes.

Between the two of them, the one I really want to play is Black Gate, so this is pretty frustrating. Anyone experienced this before?

In the start menu (assuming you're using Windows of course) in the the Complete Ultima VII folder should be a shortcut to modify game options. Run that and change the display type to something else (I'm not sure offhand what it is by default but change it.)

Next, right click on the Black Gate shortcut and run it as Admin at all times (or click on the compatibility tab and set it to do so automatically, or turn off User Account Control... probably not the best choice though.)

One or both of those is most likely the problem.
