So British tells me he's set up a room where I can sleep.

I go to the room, I go to the bed, but I can't sleep because it says I can only do that in the wilderness.

Is that it? If I want to pass time to the morning, I have to sleep in the wilderness or pay for an inn?

I think you may need to use the Use command on the bed. (I don't know if you need food in this situation.)

If you just want to pass time until morning, you can use the Help spell. This powerful spell is only level 1 and requires no reagents, and it does the following:
* Fully restores your party. (Note that dead characters will lose XP (but never levels) when revived unless your Karma is maxed out.)
* Teleports your party directly in front of Lord British.
* If cast during the night, time will pass until morning.

(My theory about why such a cheap yet powerful spell exists is that Richard Gariott got tired of players death warping, so he added a spell that does the same thing as a death warp (except that the Avatar won't lose XP when you cast the spell manually, but will if it's cast as a result of the Avatar dying).)

This Help spell exists in Ultima 7 as well, and it's even cheaper to cast.

Thanks - turns out you can't sleep in the bed. I didn't realise that the "help" spell set the time to morning as well, but considering that eating food isn't as big a deal as it was in Ultima V I just held down the spacebar until morning came.

Thanks though
