So yeah, I saw that this game Ultima: The Savage Empire had become free so I thought what the heck why not give it a try. When I installed it and played it through the start menu shortcut, DOSbox opened up and the game too as was expected. But instead of the game coming up in the window where it was supposed to be there was only this line ticking in the upper left corner. I closed the game and went into the Savage Empire folder. There I found a application named Graphic mode setup. I thought that there might be some problem with the graphics and opened it. I did nothing but choose the appropriate resolution witch is 1650-1080 or something like that. I pressed the start game button in the Graphic mode setup and it started and worked. Now when I want to open the game again through the start menu the ticking problem appears and when I use the Graphic mode way it says game not installed. I tried searching for a solution but found nothing... reinstallation did not work. Hope you can help.

OK, general hints.

* First, run as Administrator if you are running under Windows Vista/7.
* Graphics mode setup must be ran from start menu shortcut, then it should work and save the settings properly
* as last resort, you should try to configure the game by modifying the config file dosboxXXXXX.conf file in game installation dir. There is line output=surface, change it to output=ddraw

Thanks for the help babe. Running the graphic mode through the start menu and as an admin worked :D
