I'm playing Ultima IX and basically, my toolbelt disappeared right after recovering the second shrine. I was stupid enough to save the game after I noticed it. Any solution but start the game from scratch?

Shift-Q should toggle which inventory interface elements are visible, such as the toolbelt, compass, and pack. Repeat un til you can see what you want of the interface. Shift-E does the same for the weapons/armor bars.
