*** PROBLEM SOLVED *** There were some very old "nonfixed" files in the savegame folder from a previous game I played years ago. Did a complete reinstall and now it seems to work fine!
***
Hello all! I'm just asking myself if I need to get the GOG version of U9... I've started to play the game again from my old original CDs (english version, patch 1.19f installed, also the little patch from Beautiful Britannia which removes the fog - the system is Win7 64bit on an i5/8GB Asus laptop) and after changing the options.ini to the settings recommended by the guys from Forgotten World the game technically works fine - it still crashes but not very often.
But now I noticed that there are some things missing from the game: For example in Ambrosia the nameless gargoyle is not in the prison cell (but appears later when the water is coming in!) so I had to find the flying boots myself; in Despise the guys who talk about the Kiran stone are not in their cell (I only met the other guy being nearly crushed in a hole) and, worst of all, the Shamino statue near the first shrine doesn't want to talk to me! It was definitely talking when I first played the game from the same CDs in Win98SE some 12 years ago (this was with a 3dfx card and patch 1.18 installed), so there's obviously something going wrong when the game is run on a modern system...
Did anybody here experience something similar with the GOG version or does this one work? Or does somebody have an idea what I might have done wrong? All help is much appreciated, thanks in advance!
