Hey, people!

I never had a chance, whenever i've played "Ultima IX", to finish the second part of the Hythloth dungeon. I saw some piedestals for key statues in next rooms down the corridor after teleport to the New Magincia, but never could find it all, except Purple Key Statue (and there was no piedestal with such color), furthermore - there is a lot of bizarre puzzles like switches that affect tube lights and make them colored (guess that's the key to next portcullis or something). I ran deep, has been shrinked, jumped from one moving platform to another, e.t.c but never could reach the end of this extra-dungeon part.

Is it worth trying? Any good treasure at the end? Maybe, there is some kind of weapon or armor?

Thanks.
It was originally intended to be the real quest(and it is... Real) the other way was placed because the devs decided it was way too hard for most people who just wanted to complete the game. the hythloth dungeon I delveed into this but I did not complete the whole thing. you must think of it as a mechanized dungoen(likewaise the name "Hythloth" Hyloteist) you switch on lights and power(steam I guess) to run these pumps and it will pump out the water in certain areas(I only recall it because I played past the regular bit about 3 years ago and didn't finish it gave up and went back for the teleporter) it really is only a mater of doing it simply to see if you can survive. it doesn't hold much of value to loot. but if you finished(as stated by the developers) "Consider yourself an adventurer extrordinaire." the game is totally buggy and I'd definetly save often and stay in first person view (Shift M)

I've done it. I can't say if it's really worth it for anything more than wanting some extra challenge and/or bragging rights. It's fun though, but I enjoy solving puzzles. I think the only reason you should do it is just to enjoy the hardest puzzles in the game. If you don't like puzzles though, I wouldn't bother.
