I launch into space okay, but when I hyperjump to 9,9,9, I get a WRONG DISK message! I have NO idea what I should do about it and couldn't find help anywhere. I'm so close to finishing this game! Please help!

I managed to get around this by downloading a working version of Ultima II from somewhere else and pasting my PLAYER file into it, but this is still a big problem! The GOG version of this game is UNWINNABLE like this! If there is a way to fix the GOG version of this game please tell me!

That's interesting. Is there a file called MAPX90 or MAPG90 in your game directory? Are you playing with either the U2 Upgrade patch or the galaxy map patch?
MAPX90 is in there but not MAPG90. I'm not using any patches.

I just tested this with the GOG version by copying in my PLAYER file from an older version I had available and I did not experience the same problem. I was able to hyperwarp land on X just fine.

I'm not sure why it happened to you.

Bad install maybe? I guess that's the only thing that makes sense.
The best thing to do is to install the map patch for the game, which restores the map files from the original floppy disks. Although the Planet X map shouldn't have been affected by the original glitch (which caused map files with the same name to be overwritten when everything was put into the same directory), it certainly can't hurt.

If you (or anyone else) needs a handy link, here ya go:

You could also install the U2 Upgrade which, in addition to including Moonstone Dragon's galactic map patch mentioned above, will also upgrade the graphics to EGA and fix a few other bugs in the original. (look for a v2.0 later this year)

Pix also included it in his Ultima Patcher for easier installation.
