I am trying to change the audio and video setting for Ultima 9, but can't do it for some reason. I run FinalSetup.exe and change the settings, but they don't seem to "stick". When I run it again, they are back to the default settings. So I can't enable EAX (I have a Soundblaster with Alchemy) and I can't change the graphics setting. I also tried to change the graphics settings with nglide_config.exe, but that doesn't seem to do anything. As far as I know, I'm not even using Glide.

On a side note, which graphics setting is preferred: Glide or Direct3D?

Honestly, the game engine of Ultima 9 is a freaking mess. I can't imagine age has done it any favors.

You might, and this is going to sound like a weird suggestion, have better luck running it via WINE/Proton. Seems old testing shows it to not be a complete gong show.

Thanks. I'll look into it. I did manage to change the settings by editing the Options.ini file manually. It's still odd that the FinalSetup.exe file seems to do nothing. And using nglide_config, I got it to display at 1920x1080 using Glide. The game does seem to work in Windows 7. At least I was able to do the tutorial part.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it appears the link to the download is dead. Anyway, I think I manages to fix the issue by manually editing the Options.ini file.
