I found an Ethereal sight scroll in the Catherdral of Love. The game manual says it's a 1st circle spell, but when I try to bind the spell I get a message that the circle isn't unlocked yet. The Ultima Codex says Ethereal Sight is a 2nd circle spell. Is the game manual just wrong about what circle the spell is?

I just cleansed the shrine of compassion and if I look at VITALS in my Journal, magic says 1st circle.

To do the binding I placed the scroll on the pentagram in the mage's tower of Lord British's castle along with the spell's reagents and lit all the candles using the ignite spell.

This process was successful for binding a light scroll.

Ok, thanks for confirming. Yes, I still have the ethereal scroll and reagents so I'll just wait until I have 2nd circle to try again.

As to using scrolls before I can bind them, my general rule of thumb is that I save the first one I find for binding but if I find extras I'll use those. To your point, so far the only scroll I've found multiples of is Light.
