I searched the forum and I don't think I missed this previously posted. The game starts, I get the intro, and then it's just a black screen all the while you can hear everything just fine. At first I thought it was part of the game! When he tells me to arise and look around at my surroundings I thought, "Maybe my avatar just hasn't opened his eyes." Alas, he keeps talking and pointing stuff out, but nothing but a black screen. Any ideas? Thanks!

EDIT (several hours later). Think I got it licked. Evidently the graphics don't kick on if you try to skip the opening sequence. Odd.

On a side note, while I'm just toying around with it, it's actually pretty cool. I suppose I'm easily amused but being able to turn on a tv and watch an EA commercial in a dungeon hack RPG is, if nothing else, very original, and that's pretty groovy to me.

Make sure your is set to run in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. Select the , right click and select properties. Then go to the compatibility tab and change it there.
I have the exact same issue, intro runs and then no display. I can hear the music and sound, just no picture.

I answered my own question in my OP, kind of try. Make sure you don't skip (or try to skip) the opening scene.

Did not work for me, black screen after intro.

KainXVIII: Did not work for me, black screen after intro.
1. Edit Options.ini in the installation folder.
2. Change Game Rasterizer=3 to Game Rasterizer=2
3. Save your changes.

Change Game Rasterizer in Options.ini
Go to the installation folder.
Edit Options.ini.
Change Game Rasterizer=3 to Game Rasterizer=2
Change GameScreenWidth= and GameScreenHeight= to your resolution.
Change GameScreenDepth=16 to GameScreenDepth=32
Save your changes.

(works confirmed by myself after trying everything in here which did not work)
