Shortly into the game, after admiring the huge leap in graphics from Ultima 6, one of the first things that jumps out to me is I have no idea what time it is! :-)

In Ultima 5, we had a pocket watch. In Ultima 6, no pocket watch but at least the sun and moons were displayed to give some idea of what time it is. I'm used to taking note of what time it is (or the position of the sun) when talking to an NPC giving me a quest so I know at least I can probably find them back at that spot at that time.

In Ultima 7, I don't seem to have a watch, the sun and moons are nowhere to be seen on screen, and sundials are few and far between.

I am wondering if there is a way to tell time or if not, what the best approach is for finding NPCs a 2nd time, like after finishing a quest?

At the moment, it feels like I'll be wandering around looking for them *a lot* until I get lucky all the while consuming food.

I can certainly appreciate that in game of this age, there is going to be some wandering around, and that's great, I just feel a bit unmoored not having any idea what time it is.

Thanks much for any advice anyone has!

Shamino in Britain gives you a pocket watch. In Serpent Isle there is a 'w' hotkey to use the pocket watch (so you can check the time without having to dig through your inventory), and my UltimaHacks patch adds that 'w' hotkey to Black Gate.

Or, if you're willing to cheat, you could use Hack Mover and put a grandfather clock in your backpack.
There are also sundials in some places. But just find Shamino for the pocket watch as suggested above.
Perfect, thanks guys for this info!
