Pir8bard: After I first purchased the U7 package I had the "start program, get black screen, program shut down" problem until I turned off the "needs administrative permission" feature (thanks to those who asked/answered the old posts) but now I have a separate issue.

When I start The Black Gate or Serpent Isle it'll go to fullscreen but stop at the "Lord British Presents" image and, at first, continue with the sound effects. The only button that worked was the "Microsoft logo/start" button which reduced the game to a small window which I could use to play the game but couldn't be maximized to fill the screen. The game will work in the small window but I'm wondering if anyone knows what's wrong and how to fix it. Thanks.

GoingDown: This should be fixed by changing the game output from surface to ddraw. You should have "Graphics Mode Setup" program, try that.

Or, you can go to game installation dir, modify file dosboxULTIMA7.conf with text editor, search line output=surface and change it to output=ddraw
