Hi,

I recently downloaded ultima 7 from gog. I am playing it on my mac. I was wondering how I can access my saved game files? I haven't been able to find them by searching the folders in my ultima 7 related directory.

Also, after leveling up using the Batlin trick, my game is beginning to go bad. Britain is disappearing and I can no longer access my ship. I thought at first it was all the gold I "won" at the game in buccaneer's den, but I decided to lose it all (back to the house) to see if that would help. It hasn't. Is there anyway to save corrupt games with the new download?

Just how much did you level up this way, and how much gold did you win? If it's completely corrupted I don't think there's any way to save it, but if you can, try to spend as much gold as possible so it's removed from the game. Buy all the ship deeds (600-800 gold), triple crossbows (400), spend it at the baths, or deliberately lose it in the house of games.

I went up to level 11. I was able to nearly max out my team on strength, dexterity, and combat.

As for money, I'm not sure how much I went up to, maybe 30,000. But I then I purposefully lost it all, back to the games. I also tried laying it out on the ground, moving off screen for some time and then coming back. Some of it disappeared that way. But I put the rest back into the games.

Anybody know how to access the saved games?

Personally I would recommend to just scrap vanilla Ultima VII completely and instead play using the Exult engine:
http://exult.sourceforge.net

Exult is a new engine written from scratch and does not suffer the bugs of the original engine (it might have its own bugs, but nothing major) and it has a couple of improvements like higher resolutions, adjustable game speed, smooth movement or better mouse handling. Just make sure you read the documentation for setting up.

The short version is to place the game files from the gamebox (see my first link) into "/Library/Application Support/Exult/blackgate". Note that that is the global Library,, not the user Library.

HiPhish, thanks for the info. I was able to find my saved game files based on the directions above. Thanks for putting that tutorial together.
