If one of your party members dies, who is not the Avatar, is there a way to haul them back to a healer or Lord British for resurrection?

In Ultima 6 I was able to "get" the dead body and add the person to my inventory to carry them back, but in Ultima 7, if I can't and hold on the dead body I can't seem to move it anywhere.

Thanks much for any advice anyone has.

Thanks. Do you recall how to go about doing that? If I left-click-hold and try to drag the body doesn't move. If I double left click the body it opens up a list of items the body has. Right-click and right-click-hold-drag don't seem to do anything,

Hello,
This is what I read from the Wiki"
_____________
Ultima VII
In The Black Gate, should the Avatar "die", the entire party will be set loose and the Avatar will wake up in the Fellowship shelter for the poor in Paws. Feridwyn will claim that two Fellowship members brought are responsible for the rescue. This resurrection method happens after every deadly encounter, even the final battle at the Black Gate. It is basically impossible to die permanently by physical means. Should the Avatar die before going past the copy protection in Trinsic (which is only possible by starving or enraging the guards), then the game starts back at the beginning.

For fallen companions exist four possible methods. Besides going to a healer and having the companion resurrected for a high fee (performed with no guarantee), one can either use the fitting spell, Lord British is asked to do it for free, or Jaana is asked (limited times possible).

I'm not sure why you would be unable to move a body, unless the character were unconscious rather than dead. What exactly happens when you try to drag? Do you get a little error sound and error icon?
Yeah, sounds like he is just unconscious. If they did, you can move them like an object. If you press the Z key a few times and they are still alive, you can see their HP. They can go i to the negatives. They will slowly regain them, but you can speed it up with healing, bandages or resting.

If they are really dead, their sprite looks very gory.

No sound, no error, the game gives no reaction to my left-click-hold.

I think you guys are right that the character were unconscious. I just had case where I thought somebody was dead (I could swear their HITS was 0) and they got back up again, so that could have been the situation in the earlier cases.

I'll investigate further. Thanks!
casting Heal (or Great Heal) and then Dispel Magic can get them lazy bones back on their feets.

As Ixnatifual said, hitpoints can even go into a negative. Someone could still be alive at -5 hitpoints. They go unconscious below 1 hitpoint. I'm not sure at which hitpoint level a character dies. Perhaps it's even random. Can't find anything about it online, nor in the manual, nor in the cluebook.

Anyway, as long as a body doesn't show any blood on its sprite, that person's still alive. If in doubt: Move the body. Doesn't want to move? Still alive.
