Just bought Ultima 7, can't wait to play it again for the first time in 20 years. But with modern monitors/resolutions it looks like crap.

I can't seem to get Exult, is it still available.

Any tips on adjusting the resolution would be appreciated.

Wish this was adapted to modern graphics cards/monitors.

Thanks.
If you had a problem with getting Exult with Sourceforge, now it seems to be good to go. For some reason Sourceforge was acting strangely earlier today.

Thanks, that was it.

What are the odds Sourceforge would be down the very day I tried to get Exult.

I was afraid they'd pulled the plug.
Please be advised not to download the Exult-version on sourceforge itself - it's still the old, very outdated version with many bugs (for example the infamouse "disappearing items"-bug). Download the daily build on the Exult website instead, as it's the most advanced version of Exult. However, as stable Exult works today, it still misses some of the finer aspects of the original BG (mostly schedules, for example the blacksmith in Minoc, are not fully fleshed out; the light system doesn't work in the elaborated way it did in the original; the fights are even more a mess and some aspects like fleeing enemies are not implemented).
If you prefer the (unchanged) Dos-version of Ultima VII (the one they offer here on GOG) but you would like a better optical experience, you may download a custom-built dosbox (I prefer Taewoong's). There you can use many different filters to clear out the edges. It really makes a difference.
Another thing with the higher resolutions: If you play under Exult, I wouldn't recommend to use higher resolutions: I've read that it can lead to problems ingame in certain quests.

And I would like to protest: It sure doesn't look like crap, I'm playing it myself in the original rustical, pixely way. ;)
